Earth Island Journal: Why South Asians Are Speaking Out About Climate Change

South Asians for Climate Change  Among the thousands marching for climate change this past Sunday were a sizable contingent of South Asian Americans.

Barnoli Ghosh joined the marchers on Sunday marching with a group that called itself Brown & Green:  South Asian Americans for Climate Justice.

Writes Ghosh for the Earth Island Journal,   “South Asian Americans embody a dilemma of climate change. Our home countries of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives are among the most climate-impacted of the world, but we live our lives in a nation that’s the single biggest historical emitter of greenhouse gases.”

Ghosh calls South Asia ” climate ground zero.”  You can read about how South Asian Americans are finding a connection between their own lives and climate change in Earth Island Journal.
