The US Olympic Committee this Friday will honor gold medal ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi for her humanitarian work, reports KTVU.
She will receive the Rings of Gold for working with underprivileged children in 14 Bay Area public schools.
In fact, its for charity that Yamaguchi will perform in public for the first time in six years on November 2 in San Jose, California.
Proceeds will benefit her Always Dream Foundation.
Joining Yamaguchi on the rink for a public performance for the first time will be her 8-year old daughter Emma.
“For this one time show I’m coming back to the ice. It’s really special to start skating again,” said Yamaguchi.
Her Always Dream Foundation raises money for literacy programs and scholarships for young skaters.
Her show will be held at the SAP Center in San Jose.
