California Attorney General Kamala Harris is among those on a short list to be nominated by President Obama for US Attorney General, according to numerous media reports.
The speculation started almost immediately after the resignation of Eric Holder last week (pictured to left of Harris).
The Oakland-born Harris is half Indian American and Jamaican American. Her mother is Shyamala Gopalan of India. She would become the first Asian American US Attorney General in history.
After having three Asian Americans in his cabinet at the start of his presidency, President Obama is currently the first president in 15 years to have none.
A guest post in Roll Call by William J. Simonitsch, president of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, names several other possible Asian American nominees.
