International Examiner: Today is Bruce Lee Day

Bruce Lee Seattle Mayor Ed Murray is declaring today Bruce Lee Day to commemorate the opening of a new three year exhibition on the life of the iconic martial arts star, reports the International Examiner.

The tribute at the Wing Luke Museum Do You Know Bruce is the only museum exhibition outside of Hong Kong about Lee.

For those of us who do not get to Seattle often, its good to know Do You Know Bruce will be there three years. They’ll be plenty of time to see it.

Seattle of course is where Bruce Lee was buried, where he met his wife Linda, and Bruce Lee's tombstonehome of his first martial arts studio.

In describing the exhibition, the Wing Luke Museum wrote:

“More than just an action star, Bruce Lee broke barriers, defied stereotypes and inspired generations after him. Bruce Lee transformed media perceptions of Chinese male stereotypes with his films, insisting on playing roles of real people rather than caricatures. Off the screen, he embraced his mixed race, defied martial arts tradition by instructing students of all races, and challenged convention with his interracial marriage.”

You can read about the activities planned for Bruce Lee Day, the opening of the exhibition and more details about what you can expect to see in the International Examiner.

Also you can watch an interview with one of Bruce Lee’s best friends in the clip below from KING-TV.
