Want China Times: Three Chinese Americans in Running for Nobel Prize

Shoucheng ZhangThree Chinese Americans are in the running for a Nobel Prize which are being announced this week, reports the Wants  China Times.

Shoucheng Zhang (pictured left) is nominated for a Nobel Prize for Physics. Zhang is a naturalized American citizen now at Stanford University. He is best known for his groundbreaking work on topological insulators.Peidong Yang

Also nominated in physics is Peidong Yang (pictured right) , a Chinese born American chemist and nanomaterials expert now teaching at the University of California, Berkeley. The prize in Physics could be announced as early as tomorrow.

Ching TangChing Tang (pictured left) is in the running for a Nobel Prize in chemistry. He is currently teaching at the University of Rochester. He is best known for his work inventing the organic light emitting diode. He is also a member of the 2013 Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame, according to the Democrat & Chronicle. The award is expected to be announced Wednesday.

Robert Tjian, a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of California at Berkeley was nominated for a Nobel in physiology or medicine, but did not win. This morning the Nobel Prize committee announced the award had gone to John O’Keefe and the other half jointly to May-Britt Moser and Edvard I. Moser.
