NPR: Vietnamese Americans Rally Behind Ebola Victim

Nina PhamThe Vietnamese American community has raised $30,000 for Nina Pham, the Vietnamese American nurse who contracted Ebola while caring for a patient in a Dallas hospital, reports NPR.

In the Vietnamese American media, Pham’s story has been major news.

“She agreed to sacrifice herself for the sake of other people,” said Nam Nguyen, editor for the multimedia Vietnamese language-network Cali Today.  “When you sacrifice yourself for the good of the society, for the good of patients, for the good of people, I feel, she’s a good Vietnamese American.”

Even the media in Vietnam has followed Nam’s story closely. You can read about that in NPR.
