Inquirer: NY 7-Eleven Operator Found to Exploit Filipino, Pakistani Workers

7-ElevenFive 7-Eleven franchise owners in New York accused of stealing $2.6 million dollars in wages from undocumented workers have pleaded guilty, reports the Inquirer.

The owners also forced their Filipino and Pakistani workers to live in miserable conditions, according to court papers filed.

“Using the 7-Eleven brand, the defendants dispensed wire fraud and identity theft, along with Big Gulps and candy bars,” said US Attorney Loretta Lynch in a statement. “In our backyards, the defendants not only systematically employed illegal aliens, but concealed their employment by using the names of children and even the dead.”

You can read about how the scheme worked and what the ring leader did with all the money in the Inquirer.
