Daily News: Comfort Women Story Becomes Permanent Fixture of Holcaust Center

Comfort WomenOfficials at the Kupferberg Holocaust Center and Archives in New York announced Thursday the story of the comfort women will become part of its permanent exhibit, reports the Daily News.

“For more than 75 years, the comfort women of Korea have lived in the shadows of history,” said Arthur Flug, executive director of the Kupferberg Holocaust Center.

Members of the Korean American Association of Greater New York were on hand for the announcement.

“We have to remember, we have to educate the next generation,” said the group’s president, Sung K. Min.

The association along with the center plan to raise $80,000 to both install and maintain the exhibition.

In recent years, the story of women being forced into slavery by the Japanese Imperial Army has resonated with Holocaust Survivors.
