Despite the defeat of many Democrats nationally, the party is doing well in Hawaii.
Democratic State Senator David Ige has been declared the winner in Hawaii’s governor’s race over former Lt. Gov. James “Duke” Aiona 52 to 35 percent, reports the Star Advertiser.
In the Congressional race, Democrat Mark Takai leads Republican Charles Djou 54 to 46 percent. His supporters cheered the returns with 52 of 114 precincts reporting, according to KHON.
As expected, Democrat Tulsi Gabbard charged into a second term with 80 percent of the vote.
