DNA NY: Construction on Mini-High Line in NY Chinatown Expected Next Year

Highline ParkIf you’ve ever been to New York’s High Line Park, you know what a photogenic and happening place it is. The park which is elevated across 1.45 miles of Manhattan’s West Side is built on an historic freight rail line.

DNA NY is reporting construction is expected to begin on a mini-High Line Park in New York’s Chinatown next year. Ground breaking is expected in the late winter or early spring of 2015.

Norberto Acevedo Jr., a deputy director from the Department of Design and Construction, made a presentation Thursday night to Community Board 3’s Transportation and Public Safety Committee.

Acevedo says the $3.5 million project will take one year to complete and will include 10,000 square feet of public space.

You can read more details about the new park in DNA NY. Hopefully the park will bring more tourists and locals to New York’s Chinatown. I, for one, plan to visit it during hopefully a future visit to NYC.
