ESPN: Pacquiao Knocks Down Algieri Six Times in Easy Victory

Manny Pacquiao easily disposed of Chris Algieri to score an easy decision and retain his welterweight title, reports ESPN.

Analysts say only Algieri’s quick feet prevented him from being knocked out. Some thought the fight should have been called in round nine when Pacquiao knocked down Algieri twice, but the ref let the fight proceed.

It was an easy decision for the judges scoring it 120-102, 119-103 and 119-103.

Pacquiao has failed to score a knockout in his last nine fights, including this one. His last one was against Miguel Cotto

“Yes. I am looking for a knockout but he is fast and moving, so it’s hard to get Chris,” Pacquiao said.

Now all the attention is on the next fight. Will Floyd Mayweather finally say yes to the much hyped and seemingly always talked about Mayweather-Pacquaiao match?

“It’s time to step up and say yes,” Pacquiao said according to Yahoo.

Pacquaio’s trainer Freddie Roach is salivating at the thought.

“It’s always good [that there are talks],” Roach said. “I like challenges and that’s a big challenge. it’s not an easy fight by any means, but I love Manny in that fight. I look forward to getting him ready for that fight more than anything.”
