Daily News: Bronx Subway Victim Buried. WABC Talks to Suspect

Wai Kuen KwokA brisk Sunday with blue skies in New York City’s Chinatown offered very little peace to the wife and two sons of Mr. Wai Kuen Kwok.

Last week, Kwok, 61, was on his way to Chinatown with his wife when he was suddenly pushed onto the tracks of an on coming D train in the Bronx. Kevin Darden was arrested after the release of surveillance video and was later charged.

According to the Daily News, Kwok’s wake and funeral was held at Wah Wing Sang funeral home on Mulberry Street, also known as “funeral row.” There were about 30 friends and family that attended.

A GoFundMe was started shortly after the incident by family friend, Pastor Aaron Chan of Boon Church in Queens to help offset the costs of the funeral. Generous donations have poured in and has far exceeded the goal of $15k. It is now well over $25k.

Darden will appear in court on November 24. He is also charged with robbing a man just 30 minutes prior to pushing Kwok to his death.

Mulberry Street has several funeral homes on the same side of the street, which locals have coined the name, “funeral row.”

Darden talked to WABC reporter Kemberly Richardson.
