Daily Mail: Wife of John Lennon’s Killer Stands By Him 34 Years Later

John Lennon & Yoko OnoGloria Hiroko has broken her silence. The wife of Mark Chapman, the man who fired four bullets into John Lennon’s back and killed him,  told the Daily Mail her husband is repentant.

‘If Mark could say anything to John and Yoko now, he would say: “I’m sorry I caused such pain,” she says,  ‘He would say: “I hope you have forgiven me.”’

Hiroko married Chapman 18 months before he shot Lennon. She has stayed with him in the 34 years since the murder.

Hiroko regrets missing the signs her husband was about to do something tragic. Chapman made eight trips from the couple’s home in Hawaii to stalk Lennon in New York and learn the singer’s daily comings and goings. She said the only motive for her husband’s actions was to gain notoriety.

‘”John was a nice person but Mark wasn’t thinking about that, that day, and put himself first. That was his mistake,” she said. She hopes Yoko can find it in her heart to forgive Chapman. He has been denied parole eight times, but the two still dream of spending time on a Hawaiian beach together.

You can read about her conjugal visits with her husband, how he blames her for not stopping him from killing Lennon and how she prayed before deciding to break her silence in the Daily Mail.
