Fans of zany comedy in the style of Monty Python may want to tune into the new TV show Galavant, debuting this Sunday at 8 Eastern/7 Central.
The show features Karen David as Princess Isabella, an actress born in India and raised in Canada and who is also part Chinese. According to Audrey, she debut on the London stage as part of the original cast of Mama Mia.
David then gained fame in 2010 playing a school teacher who falls for a student in a controversial role on the BBC drama Waterloo Road. She has also had guest appearances on Castle and Touch.
“I loved Galavant when my agents sent me the script. Then my heart stopped when I read the bit where [Princess Isabella] is described as Jennifer Lawrence. So I went into this casting process feeling like the underdog and just having fun with it.”
“But after I went to meet (creator & filmmaker) Dan [Fogelman] for the second meeting, Dan turned to everyone and said, “That’s my Isabella. That’s my brown Jennifer Lawrence.”
