At Least Three Asian Americans Win Grammys

Robert & Kristen Anderson LopezThree Asian Americans took home a prestigious Grammy on Sunday.

Filipino American Robert Lopez and his wife Kristen Anderson Lopez won for the hit song Let It Go from the animated Disney film Frozen.

They won in the category of Best Song Written for A Visual Medium. You can watch a feature on the Lopez’ done by ABS CBN when the nomination was announced below.

 

Jared Cassedy, a South Korean adoptee and high school music teacher. won the Grammy Music Educator Award, according to the Korea Times. He teaches at Windham High School in New Hampshire and was selected from a list of 7,000 nominees.

In the category of new age album, the Grammy went to composer, producer and Indian American Ricky Kej for the album Winds of Samsara, reported India West.
