Daily News: Cop Wants to Go to Trial in Beating of Alexian Lien

Alexian LienThe highest profile suspect in the motorcycle beating of Alexian Lien has rejected a plea bargain and wants to go to trial, reports the Daily News.

An attorney for undercover officer Wojciech Braszczok says his client has rejected a plea bargain that would have meant one year in prison.

“He wants to go to trial,” attorney John Arlia said to the judge.

The plea bargain would have meant Braszczok would have had to plead guilty to two felonies, 2nd degree assault and riot.

In a separate case, the NY Post reports Christopher Cruz has accepted his plea offer in the Lien case and has been sentenced to four months in jail and five months probation.

He pled guilty to assault in the second degree and riot in the first degree.

Video showed a group of bikers chasing Lien in his SUV, pulling him out of the vehicle and beating him.

Cruz was one of 11 suspects. He was accused of slowing his bike in front of Lien as he traveled down the highway in his SUV. Lien’s vehicle bumped Cruz’ motorcyle, setting off the incident.
