USC: Poll Finds Asian Americans Optimistic About Race Relations in California

California & US FlagsA poll by the Los Angeles Times and the University of Southern California says Asian Americans are overall positive about race relations in California.

79 percent of Asian American voters in California say their state is better than other states when it comes to race relations. Overall, 65 percent of Californians feel the same way.

48 percent of Asian Americans polled believe race relations have improved in the country compared to 37 percent of California voters overall.

69 percent of Asian American voters say they are rarely discriminated against or not at all. 71 percent of Latinos, 80 percent of white voters and 51 percent of Black voters say they are rarely discriminated against or not at all.

California’s population is 39% white, 38% Latino, 14% Asian, 7% black and 2% Native American.
