The Muslim community in Detroit received an apology from WDIV anchor Carmen Harlan following comments she made after a story about ISIS, reports TV Spy.
Reporter Kimberly Gill had just wrapped up a story about possible ISIS activity in Michigan. Harlan commented ” “given the fact that we have the largest Arab population outside the Middle East I guess this should not come as a real surprise.”
The American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee called Harlan’s remark a “shocking lapse of professional conduct.”
Harlan apologized on air Thursday, an action praised by ADC.
