A comedy featuring actor Ken Jeong and loosely based on his life has been picked up by ABC, reports The Wrap.
Dr. Ken will star Jeong along with Suzy Nakamura, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Dave Foley, Jonathan Slavin, Albert Tsai and Krista Marie Yu.
The story evolves around a doctor with poor bedside manners. In real life, Jeong was a doctor before turning to acting.
Based on information from IMDB, I would guess the show will be based primarily at the doctor’s office or hospital, rather than at Dr. Ken’s home.
Nakamura, Tsai and Yu are listed as the 6th, 7th and 8th cast members.
A news release from ABC describes the show this way:
Doctor turned actor/comedian Ken Jeong (Community, The Hangover), plays Dr. Ken, a brilliant physician with no bedside manner. He is always trying to be a good doctor, as well as a good husband and dad to his two kids. However, these good intentions have a way of driving everyone crazy at both work and at home. Luckily, his therapist wife Allison is just the right partner to keep things sane.
Nakamura will play wife Allison and the two children will be portrayed by Tsai and Yu. Nakamura has appeared in Horrible Bosses 2 and Dodge Ball. Tsai most recently appeared in Trophy Wife and also had a guest appearance on Fresh Off The Boat. Yu had parts in Death to Romance, Life Grows on and Sync.
