The mother of one of six students killed in a rampage by Elliot Roger near the UC Santa Barabara campus a year ago released an open letter to other mothers before Mother’s Day calling for greater campus safety, reports KTVU. .
“I can’t sleep in peace when I think nothing has been done,” said Kelly Wang about the death of her son George Chen and the five others.
In her letter, she calls for background checks for those staying in student housing, greater police presence on campus and more education of parents on how to look for warning signs in their children.
“And we have to. We cannot afford another Elliot Roger and come out some day and slaughter hundreds of children. We cannot afford that,” she says.
