Love you are also two words Arvin Temkar never heard his mother say to him.
In his reflection for mother’s day in Hyphen Magazine, Temkar writes a moving tribute to his late mom and about the unspoken love between the two.
Temkar admits often butting heads with his mother who he describes as a disciplinarian so strict even his friends noticed it.
“Man, I’m glad my mom’s not like that,'” one friend once told him.

When Temkar left his mom one day, he thought about telling her he loved her, but did not.
It was the last time he would ever see his mom alive. She would have a heart attack a few hours later.
