NBC San Diego: First Filipino School Opens Up in San Diego

Filipino School A school designed to teach young Filipino Americans about their cultures and traditions has opened up in San Diego, reports NBC San Diego.

“A lot of kids, yes they are Filipino but there’s something missing from them,” says teacher Jacquiline Lapid. “And they’re missing their identity and they want to learn more about their identity and what it means to be a Filipino.”

The school is similar to one in Cerritos, California which last month celebrated its 50th year.

San Diego County is home to 150,000 Filipino Americans.

You can learn more about what the school offers in the report below from Liberty Zabala of NBC San Diego.
