As announced by Jeremy Lin himself, the point guard has officially signed a two year contract to play with the Charlotte Hornets.

Hornets general manager Rich Cho says Lin will bring “a different dimension” to the Hornets, reports the News & Observer.

“One thing he can really do is get into the paint,” Cho said. “With our second unit, that’s important. We have several players in our second unit who can benefit from that. All of them will benefit from his ability to get shots for others.”

Cho is Burmese American, according to Wikipedia.. He immigrated with his family from Ramgoon, Burma in 1968. Cho is the first Asian American general manager in the NBA. Before coming to the Hornets, he was General Manager with the Portland Trailblazers where he became the first Asian American to be hired as a General Manager in all of American major league sports. He was also an Assistant General Manager with the Oklahoma City Thunder/Seattle Supersonics.

Lin has a career scoring average of 11.7 points per game. His field goal percentage is 44 percent and he averages 35 percent beyond the three point line. He has often been criticized for his defense, but Cho says he’s not worried.

“We have made a concerted effort to improve offensively,” Cho said. “There’s always a trade-off, but coach (Steve Clifford) will do a great job.

“One thing Coach Clifford and his staff always do is get teams to play great team defense.”

It’s believed Lin signed a two year contract worth a little more than $4 million.
