The sexual harassment and racial discrimination case filed by an Asian student at Concordia University in Quebec is going to mediation, reports the Montreal Gazette.

Mei-Ling, a former executive member of a Concordia University student association, sued after seeing a Facebook chat by two association members referring to her as a “whore” and “chink slave.”

The Quebec Human Rights Commission offered to mediate the dispute and the Arts and Science Federation of Associations, which was sued for not doing enough to stop the harassment, has accepted.

Mei-Ling said she sued only after she said her complaints to the school administration were ignored.

“I welcome this news from the new leadership at ASFA,” Mei-Ling said. “I have faith that they will … move toward making changes … to create a less toxic work environment for everyone. I hope no one ever has to go through what I went through.”

However, Mei-Ling is not willing to go to mediation with the two students she also sued and she vowed to see that case go through to the end.
