Battling vicious Stage 4 breast cancer, Special Olympian Olivia Quigley, an adoptee from China, took a gold medal in the 100 meter race in the 2015 Special Olympics.
According to ESPN, she is struggling with extensive chemotherapy and great pain, but still managed to stay positive in the face of adversity. Quigley refuses to give up her goal of raising awareness of breast cancer and serving as an inspiration to those with cancer. She hopes to encourage “those with cancer[that they] can achieve beyond what they believe to be their limit”.
“She’s showing everyone the power of staying positive. She’s telling everybody she’s a strong person. She’s going to persevere. She’s going to give everything she has,”Deb Moore-Gruenloh, Quigley’s track coach, said.
