KCRA: Family Sues City of Stockton for Killing Hostage during Police Chase

Misty Holt-Singh

The family of a hostage killed by police in Stockton, California has filed a lawsuit against the city, reports KCRA.

Police fired some 600 shots while chasing a vehicle in which Misty Holt-Singh was being held hostage.

“The city of Stockton Police Department exacerbated a bank robbery and endangered innocent civilians by improperly responding to the robbery, engaging in an hour-long, rolling gun battle with the bank robbers through populated city streets and ultimately allowing 32 officers to fire over 600 bullets into the perpetrators’ disabled vehicle without command, knowing a hostage was inside.” wrote the family’s attorneys in their complaint.

Yesterday, Delta Charter Schools and Singh’s husband Paul announced she would be honored with the naming of a new Litte League scoreboard, the Misty Holt-Singh Memorial Scoreboard.

Record-Net reports a design has been submitted, but there is no timetable of when the scoreboard will be built.

“We are honored to be able to keep Misty’s legacy alive by being a sponsor of this scoreboard,” Delta Charter Superintendent Jeff Tilton said in a statement. “This is a great way to give back to our community.”
