Bruno Mars accepted the Video Music Award for Best Male Music video Sunday night in Los Angeles for Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk.
He gave a shout out to both his band and his fans.
“Fellas, if you’re watching we did it, we did it,” Mars said on stage after accepting the award. “To my fans, the Hooligans, I love you so much.”

It was Mars third straight win in the VMA after being nominated a total of nine times. The other two were in 2013 for Best Male Video for Locked Out of Heaven and Best Choreography for Treasure.
Uptown Funk spent 14 consecutive weeks atop the US Billboard Top 100.
Mars mother is Filipino. His father is half Puerto Rican and half Jewish.
According to Wikipedia, Mars changed his name from Hernandez because people confused him with being Hispanic.
He quoted somebody in the music industry as saying “Your last name’s Hernandez, maybe you should do the Latin music, this Spanish music… Enrique [Iglesias] is so hot right now”. He said he decided to change his name to Mars to avoid being stereotyped.
