SPOILER ALERT: What Fans & the Show Are Saying about Glenn and His Future in The Walking Dead.

Steve Yeun

The apparent demise of Glenn on The Walking Dead set Twitter on fire Sunday night, but there’s hope we could see more of Steve Yeun’s character in future episodes.

Fans expressed their outrage, with some threatening never to watch the show again.

“They. Killed. Glenn. No. No.no. no no no @WalkingDead_AMC what’s is wrong with you this can’t be real I’m LIVID! WHO’S YOUR MANAGER????” tweeted Paola Rodriguez

“ok I don’t even know if anyone watches the walking dead anymore but they just killed Glenn and I want to cry,” said Jordan in her tweet.

“THEY KILLED GLENN ON THE WALKING DEAD I AM DONE WITH THIS SHOW HE WAS MY FAVORITE YOU CROSSED THE LINE,” said another.

But with all the despair, there was also hope for fans of Glenn.

According to Deadline, in a message to fans on The Walking Dead aftershow, executive producer Scott Gimple said “Dear fans of The Walking Dead, this is a hard story to tell and when we were planning to tell, we knew our friends at the Talking Dead would be talking to you about it, and knowing you’d all be talking, and feeling and commiserating.

“So I’ll say this – In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story to help complete the story.”

SPOILER ALERT (Don’t read further if you don’t want to know how Glenn died)

Glenn died when he became trapped on top of dumpster with Nicholas (Michael Traymor). Nicholas says thank you to Glenn, then shoots himself in the head. His body falls on top of Glenn, sending both into the dumpster where it appears the Walkers feast on Glenn.

Deadline leaves open the possibility Glenn actually might still be alive.

If so, that would be good. Although Glenn’s nice guy image and romance with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) gave Glenn a special relationship with fans, he was especially special for Asian Americans. His bad ass image is not one often seen in Hollywood portrayals of Asian Americans, unless they happen to be a martial artist. His romance with Maggie also set him apart form most characters played by Asian American actors.

As for Steve Yeun himself, he so far has said nothing about Glenn’s apparent death.

He tweeted something instead about the death of Minnesota Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders from cancer.
