The Wall Street Journal reports 57 percent of those surveyed object to the Muslim ban with 25 percent in support.
Among Republicans, support is higher with 38 percent in favor and 39 percent opposed. Anti-Muslim sentiment is high among GOP voters with half saying they have an unfavorable view of Muslims. This compares to 60 percent of all Americans who say they have a favorable view.
Trump continues to lead the Republican field of presidential contenders in the polls, but among all Americans, 59 percent say they view him negatively.
This has Republican Party leaders scrambling to figure out how to block Trump’s nomination. It also has Trump once again wondering if he’d like to instead run as a third party candidate.
