This is pretty juvenile if you ask me, but unfortunately it’s also representative of the hate and prejudice being directed at South Asians in this country.
A fellow passenger sitting next to a Sikh man on a Jet Blue flight videotaped the man sleeping and then posted it on You Tube with the caption “Would you feel safe flying with Bin Laden.”
The passenger identified as Darshan Singh says the man never even talked to him during the entire flight and expressed surprise at what happened.
The video was posted on December 9, but taken during a flight from New York to California in November. It has generated more than 200,000 views since going live.
The video has been voted down more than 5,500 times compared to only 98 up votes.
“You are clearly stupid and racist,” wrote one person who saw the video.
“I wouldn’t feel safe sitting next to the man recording this,” wrote another.
Prabneet Gill wrote “That’s my dad you are filming. You my friend are an ignorant individual.”
