When I first came up with the idea for AsAmNews, a number of Asian American publications had just gone under.
Unfortunately the KoreAm Journal has been added to a list of Asian American media casualties.
The magazine with a 25 year history has published its last edition, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Publisher James Ryu has been there for the entire 25 year ride.
“We knew it was just a matter of time,” Ryu said about end of KoreAm which has been losing money for quite some time.

KoreAm‘s sister publication, Aubrey, will continue in an online only format, but Ryu admits its future form remains unclear.
” I know that there are many people who still feel the need for a distinctly Korean American voice,” Julie Ha, editor of KoreAm wrote in an e-mail. “There’s still so much of our journey to explore and document.”
