Federal prosecutors are requesting that a judge bar officers from the Madison, Alabama Police Department from testifying if there is a third trial, reports WHNT.
Two juries have so far deadlocked on charges that Eric Parker used excessive force when questioning 57-year-old Sureshbhai Patel last February.
Authorities say Patel suffered spinal cord injuries after being slammed to the concrete, but the defense has contended Patel refused to cooperate and the leg sweep used by Parker was done in self defense and proper police procedure.
Several officers testified in support of Parker, but the prosecution says their testimony should be barred because they lack expertise in the area and did not witness the incident.
The whole motion could be a moot point, however. You can read about that on WHNT.
