The KTown Cowboys are saddling up and ready to ride into your home.

The popular film festival flick and You Tube series is opening in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Fairfax, VA this Friday, then you’ll be able to watch it on demand next week.

The eight episode series which debut in 2010 generated two million views on You Tube.

The full length movie presents an authentic view of life in Los Angeles’ Ktown from the perspective of a few young carousing Korean Americans.

“We weren’t trying to have some Asian American studies thesis about being Asian,” director Daniel “DPD” Park said to the Los Angeles Times. “We just wanted to tell the story of our friends.”

Investors interested in backing the movie thought it was funny, but many tried to change it. One wanted to turn it into a buddy movie ala Rush Hour. Another wanted to bring in more big name Asian stars.

Once the movie was made, they met with the same skepticism from distributors.

“If we do feel like we’re not being represented, that falls on us to go out and make something,”  said Park. “The opportunity to change things is there. It’s up to us individually.”
