A New Mexico State Senator is defending his choice to repost on Facebook a list of offensive jokes to many Asian Americans.
The jokes derisively translates English phrases into fake Chinese. You’ve heard the jokes before. That’s not right is translated into Sum Ting Wong.” This is a tow away zone is translated into No Pah King.
“That joke is not new,” said Asian American Association of New Mexico president Roderick Ventura. “People for some reason after all this time think it’s still OK to make this culturally and racially insensitive jokes.”
When a reporter questioned Martinez as to what he found funny about all this, Martinez pushed back.
“Obviously you don’t have the same humor I do,” he said. “So if you don’t see the humor in it, then I’m wasting my time.”
