The commitment to diversity at Dartmouth is being questioned after an Asian American professor was denied tenure, reports Campus Reform.

Protestors say the rejection of tenure for Associate English Professor Aimee Bahng is part of an ongoing pattern at Dartmouth in which promising professors are recruited, but end up leaving due to a lack of promotion or tenure.

Bahng specialized in Asian American literature, feminist science, technology studies and queer theory.

A petition drive launched to protest the tenure denial has collected 3,600 signatures since May.

Bahng has published two books and four peer-review publications.

According to Campus Reform., only one-third of campus professors have tenure nationwide and more university’s are turning to part-time help as a budget saving measure.
