Authorities in Nye County outside of Las Vegas are investigating racist graffiti found on an auto body shop as a hate crime, reports the
Las Vegas Review Journal.
Words such as “I will kill you” and “Foreigner go home” were found spray painted on the shop in Pahrump.
Waqar Ahmed, 61, identifies as Muslim is a U.S. citizen from India.
“Based on the references and the slurs and the graffiti, it’s imperative that it be treated as a possible hate crime. I don’t think there’s any way you could avoid that,” Council on American-Islamic Relations spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said.
Last month Ahmed was granted a restraining order when he said a man threatened him on the phone.
“He said that he was going to kill me,” he said, and to go back to the Third World country where he came from.
