We are doing 4 last performances August 14, 15, 21, 22 of Happy Lucky Golden Tofu Panda Dragon Good Time Fun Fun Show in New York City at the Fringe Festival of New York before going on tour with the movie version and concerts around the world.

We are teaming up with AsAmNews to give away 10 pairs of tickets to our first two shows on August 14 & 15. To win, just fill out the form below before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time August 8.

This show was created last December and premiered at La Mama ETC to sold out audiences. We made a concert movie of the film which premiered at the Soho International Film Festival in May, and is now on the festival circuit.

We made the movie and the show to bring Asian American issues, stereotypes, identity politics, humor and conversations into a popular culture context–comedy and spoken word and rock n roll electric violin. Our audiences have included UN luminaries, comedy stars like Rosie O’Donnell and Lea DeLaria, celebs and political pundits. We hope your readers will join us there are only 4 more performances and we have free tickets to offer to the first two performances.

I appreciate the readers of AsAmNews and know how crucial it is to go out an support Asian American Artists, but even just by showing up
and laughing– you are supporting!!

And for those with questions about our band name, or the satirical nature of our work this is from our Facebook page:

Re getting criticized for using racial language in our own name and confronting stereotypes in our work: This discussion is healthy and also necessary –the bigotry directed at Asian people in the west is about stereotypes, lumping all Asian people together in one racist idea of “chink” and dehumanizing them out of the racial conversation. The idea that all Asian people look the same, are all slant eyes is what got Vincent Chin murdered. Our group forces this conversation to happen so whilst I respect the POV and fear around putting racial language out there, we as educated experienced Asian American artists seek to deconstruct these stereotypes and racial language through subversion, discussion, exposition of theses and examination. My shows have been invited to the Smithsonian major festivals around the world and forums on Asian American issues. I’m all up in this discourse and I don’t take it lightly — my first show Chinkorama was about that word chink and this show is about the identity politics of Asians in the west. I apologize for triggering the youth but youth need to be triggered into feeling uncomfortable because that feeling of discomfort is an appropriate response to the very real whitewashing of Asian experience and stereotyping of new immigrants. It’s all in our songs and shows. I hope you will come and experience it in person this August in New York.
