Filipino Mother Missing for Two Months

Cecilia Bustamante
Cecilia Bustamante was last seen October 28

The local Filipino community in DeKalb County, Georgia, is using social media in the hopes that they may find leads to the disappearance of Cecilia Bustamante, a 42-year-old Filipino mother of a 7-year-old child.

Willy Blanco from the Filipino American Association of Atlanta told WSB-TV that he urged the Atlanta Pinoy Facebook page, with more than one thousand members, along with others in the community, to share the story of Bustamante.

“Just reach out to all of your friends out there. People in social media groups, anybody who may know anything about her.”

Bustamante was reported missing on December 2nd, when a family friend called in from Maryland after she was absent from a Thanksgiving celebration, five weeks after she was last seen leaving her job at Willy’s Mexicana Grill on October 28th.

Chamblee police Capt. Ernesto Ford stated that she left with “no money, no credit cards, no passport,” leaving police to believe that she did not leave of her own free will and could be in grave danger. Bustamante’s husband refused to speak to the police and to the press, and he had not reported her missing the entire time; he is currently left to care for their son Alex, reports GMA News Online.

Bustamante had recently moved to Chamblee; so far, Blanco has only found two members of the Atlanta Pinoy Facebook page who know her, with one of them apparently not disclosing as much as he thinks she could: “This lady that knows her knows her a lot more than what she is saying right now.” The local Filipino community is attempting to organize a time to hand out flyers on the streets to gather leads on Bustamante’s disappearance.

FOX News has also reported last week on her disappearance.
