Should charges of sexual harassment disqualify someone from an Oscar nomination?
That’s what Fresh Off the Boat actress Constance Wu feels should have happened to Manchester by the Sea actor Casey Affleck, reported NBC Boston. The actor settled two suits filed against him in 2010 by former co-workers.
Wu took to Twitter to criticize the nomination.

The actress declared that Affleck’s win will be “a nod to Trump’s [victory],” and despite being counseled to avoid the subject, she was “a woman [and] human first,” and that outweighed the success of her career.

The lawsuits were filed by Amanda White and Magdalena Gorka, a producer and cinematographer respectively. Alleging hostile work conditions, both women quit work on the film I’m Still Here. White’s suit alleged vulgar treatment and that Affleck hired prostitutes to harass both her and Gorka. Gorka’s suit reinforced White’s claims.
In the past, Wu has been vocal about political issues, most specifically of minority representation in Hollywood. She made headlines in 2016 for accusing “The Great Wall” of whitewashing for casting Matt Damon the lead role.
