From the annual Firecracker Ceremony to the  Lunar New Year Parade ,  thousands of people have come out to Manhattan’s Chinatown to watch the colorful events and celebrate the year of the rooster.

The Lunar New Year is typically celebrated for two weeks. On the Chinese calendar this is 4715.

According to www.YourAstrology.com, “People born in the year of the rooster are beautiful, kind-hearted, hard-working, courageous, independent, humorous and honest. They like to keep the home neat and organized. On the other side, they might be arrogant, self-aggrandizing, persuasive to others and wild as well as admire things or persons blindly.”
