Filipino American Eliminated from The Voice-One Remains

Gaby Borromeo22-year-old Gaby Borromeo has been eliminated from The Voice.

Fueled by yes votes last week from both Blake Sheldon and Adam Levine, she faced off this week under the tutelage of Levine against fellow contestant Mark Isaiah.

The two performed the song PillowTalk.

Alicia Keyes said it was a choice between a “powerhouse female vocalist and a male vocalist who is a little bit smoother.”

Blake Shelton said Isaiah was better at the syncopation.

Gwen Stefani told Borromeo “Your voice is so beautiful,” but said she leaned toward Isaiah.

In the end, it was coach Levine’s choice and he chose Isaiah.

Things went better for fellow Filipino American Anatalia Villaranda who battled with Missy Robertson.

The odds were in Villaranda’s favor who received yes votes from all four judges last week.

Stefani described her as “a firecracker.” Levine compared her to a “windup toy” and asked her if she ever ran track.

Shelton called the duo’s performance worthy of any Grammy stage. He called Villaranda’s both “flashy” and “hard not to pay attention to.”

Coach Keyes chose Villaranda after calling both her pupils “incredible.”

She now moves on to the knockout round.
