A racist flyer being posted on the University of Texas, Austin campus is causing quite a stir.

The flyer titled “Ethical Lessons to Chinese” has triggered more than 100 complaints to the Campus Crisis Response Team, according to a campus spokesperson.

On the flyer, a non-existent class to “teach Chinese more about ethics” is advertised.

“Absolutely not,” said a campus spokesperson when asked if such a class really existed.

About 12:30 p.m. today Austin time, Campus president Greg Fenves announced the student responsible for the flyers has been identified.

Campus spokesperson J.B. Bird told AsAmNews the person and incident will be investigated under the campus’ new hate and bias policy.

The student’s name will not be released, at least for now.

Racist flyers have popped up across the country on University campuses. In several incidents, the white supremacist group, Vanguard America, took responsibility.

AsAmNews reported this morning that that group was not suspected in this incident.

“Such posters are completely unacceptable,” said campus president Greg Fenves said in a statement. “Consistent with UT Austin’s core values, every student, faculty member and staff member who sets foot on our campus has the right to learn, teach and work without fear and without being the object of hate and discrimination.”

The incident is the first one since UT Austin released its bias policy just two weeks ago.

“We have a new hate and bias incident policy,” said Bird.   “It deals with pervasive incidents of bias. It deals with hate speech when it crosses the line between hate and action.”

It will be up to the Dean of Students office to decide what disciplinarian action will be taken.

AsAmNews has reached out to the email address posted on the flyer and will update this post if we hear back.

  1. RE: Update: Student identified in racist flyer incident at University of Texas, Austin: The dean is probably having a good laugh with the student and the student will probably just be told to lay low for a while.

  2. RE: Student identified in rscist flyer incident at Univ of Texas, Austin:There are lots of contradictory news about identifying the person. Do these people even ask themselves, if he is ONLY the SUSPECT why they are already making him the GUILTY without letting the investigation finished. How can they come up with somebody’s ID so soon right after the incident… I think the officials are dying to find someone to blame him for, So that they can say Hey we did it!…
