George Takei joins I Stand with Immigrants campaign

Asian American and LGBTQ actor/activist George Takei is featured in a celebrity-driven video to promote the I Stand with Immigrants campaign.

The video was timed to kick off the fourth annual Immigrant Heritage Month.

America Ferrera, , Uzo Aduba, Jason Sudeikis and Ilana Glazer were also featured. Events will be held across the country. Supporters are urged to use the group’s photo filter to declare I Stand with Immigrants or I Am an Immigrant with your social media profile pictures.

Hollywood director Cary Fukunaga who won an Emmy for the HBO series True Detective and critical acclaim for his film Beasts of No Nation contributed a photo gallery in support of the campaign.

“Immigrant Heritage Month is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate that immigration has always been an incredible source of strength and to celebrate our shared immigrant heritage,” said Facebook CEO and FWD.us Founder Mark Zuckerberg. “The important contributions that immigrants have made and will continue to make are a foundation for our nation and strong communities.”
