Filipino American Victoria Flores will play in the main draw of the Wimbledon Junior Championships tomorrow.
She advanced after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Joanna Garland 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday and Norway’s Malene Helgo 6-4 Friday, reported Gulf News.
Her parents Manny and Mary Ann are Filipino and are both tennis coaches. Victoria began playing tennis at 3.
She is now ranked 48th on the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) junior rankings, shooting up from 426 at the start of the year. Last month she won the singles and doubles titles on clay at Offenbach in Germany.
According to the campus publication Rambling Wreck, she will enter Georgia Tech as a freshman in the fall.
