UPS Drivers Killed by Gunman Remembered

UPS Workers Killed
Wayne Chan, Mike Lefiti and Benson Louie

A memorial service honoring three UPS drivers killed by a co-worker in San Francisco was held at City Hall Sunday.

Organized by the Teamsters and attended by city leaders, they came to remember Wayne Chan, Mike Lefiti, and Benson Louie.

San Francisco mayor Ed Lee called them by their nicknames-“Big Mike, Uncle Benson and ‘Infectious’ Wayne,'” reported ABC7.

Kyle Chan knew Infectious Wayne as just dad.

“We came first with whatever he did,” Kyle was quoted as saying by the SF Chronicle. “The best foods he gave to us. The best things he’d share with us.”

Jimmy Laam returned to work June 14 and gunned down the three before shooting and killing himself.

“A loss like this – so unexpected, gun violence leaves a trauma behind,” House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi said.

About three hundred attended the meeting held on the first floor of City Hall. Many UPS workers watched from a balcony above with memories of the co-workers and friends loss.

“Michael was the kind of guy who treated everybody as family,” said his friend Julia Martinez.

“All will be missed and not forgotten,” said Joseph Cilia, secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Local 2785 in San Francisco. “We will remember them for the great men that they were.”
