New Show Highlights Discrimination Faced by Queer Asians

It’s still unusual to see Asian American men in lead roles. It’s even more unusual to see a show look at the discrimination Asians face not only in Hollywood, but also the LGBTQ communities.

Anthony Ma stars in Before I got Famous

Before I Got Famous has all those elements. The show will debut on the new queer streaming service Revry, reports Queerty.

The show stars Anthony Ma as Alex, a handsome Asian American who comes to Hollywood with the dream shared by many actors-to become famous.

In the process, he learns of the barriers Asians face in Hollywood and the racism experienced by Asians in the gay community.

The show also features Alexandre Chen and Lee Chen as Alex’ parents, Leann Lei as a teacher, Tiago Ferreira as Tiago and Camille Wormser as Cindy.

Vasco Xu and Giovanna Sarquis created the program and Q.

Before I Got Famous debuts August 25th and will be available via Apple TV, Amazon Fire and Roku.
