Ali Wong and Randall Park have signed on to star in an untitled romcom film for Netflix. The two Asian American actors co-wrote the comedy with Michael Golamco, according to InStyle.
In a 2016 interview with The New Yorker, Wong described her project with Park to be their “version of When Harry Met Sally.” The film is a longtime project that Wong said the two have been working on for years.
Deadline reports the film synopsis: “The film follows two childhood friends who find themselves in vastly different socioeconomic situations when they fall in love as adults.” According to Deadline, Netflix hasn’t found a director yet.
Wong and Park haven’t worked onscreen together before, but Wong worked with Park when she was a writer and consultant for Fresh Off the Boat.
Both Wong and Park are currently starring in their own ABC shows, American Housewife and Fresh Off the Boat, respectively.
Wong previously worked with Netflix for her 2016 comedy special Ali Wong: Baby Cobra. In addition to American Housewife, Wong had a role in The Orchard’s indie film The Hero.
Park will be onscreen next in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp and A24’s The Disaster Artist.
