They were best friends on earth. Now two ten year olds are together in heaven.
Relatives identified Linda Van and Uyen Tran, along with Uyen’s uncle Tim Bui as the three people who died in a mobile home fire Tuesday in San Jose, reports the Mercury News.
Linda’s brother Van can’t believe she’s gone.
“Everyone in here really loved her, and miss her a lot too,” he said to ABC7
Their Orchard School community has rallied together to support the families and have set up a Go Fund Me page. By this morning, $4,600 had been raised.
“They were two girls who were very much friends. They were very close,” said Michelle Quilantang, principal and acting superintendent said to the Mercury News.
The fire happened in the same neighborhood where an intense flood chased many people from their homes this past winter.
“The heat was just too extreme,” said neighbor Alex Torres. “The flames were coming at you and all of the sudden — the front windows just blew out and we all ran back and tried to come back at it again.”
Investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating, but authorities suspect the fire may have been accidental.
Right now neighbors are focusing on the families.
“It’s so sad for the family,” said neighbor Aline Mahoney. “They thought maybe the (aunt) took all the kids out. But no.”
