Uber Passenger Forcibly Removed from Vehicle

Lily Kim Uber IncidentUber has dropped one of its drivers in Chicago from its program after she forcibly removed an Asian American passenger from her car, reports DNA Info.

Chicago police say the driver got into a verbal altercation with  Professor Lily Kim of Depaul University and demanded Kim get out of the vehicle.

Video posted by Kim shows the driver leaving her seat, opening the rear door and physically trying to remove Kim.

It’s unclear from the video whether the driver is pushing Kim out, or as the professor alleges, punching her.

It’s also unclear what happened prior to the incident documented by the video.

Kim called a news conference, but cancelled it saying she was not physically able to attend.

She has posted photos of scratches and cuts on her face, according to
NBC Chicago.

The station talked to a good friend of Kim.

“Lily Kim got beat up by the Uber driver, that is very unfortunate,” Dr. Kim Tee said.

“The pain comes a few days later,” he continued. “She cannot move her arms.”

Lily KimKim says she was taking Uber to go to the playoff game at Wrigley Field between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers.

She has filed a police report, but so far no charges or arrests have been made.

Her biography on DePaul’s website says she is an adjunct professor in the Department of Marketing.

She is also a former anchor at Korean language station KBC-TV in Chicago.

“As soon as we became aware of this situation, we immediately reached out to everyone involved to understand what may have happened,” Uber said in a statement. “Our Community Guidelines prohibit this type of behavior and we have removed this driver’s access to Uber.”
