Bruno Mars dominated the American Music Awards with 7 wins last night, but perhaps because Mars was on tour and not able to attend, his wins didn’t get a lot of TV time.

Certainly one of the biggest TV moments of the night belonged to BTS. The super KPop group made its American television debut singing in Korean. Imagine that-singing on national TV in Korean.

Their army of fans made their presence known both during the performance and after on social media.

What was surprising was that the group’s young fans sang along. Judging by the wild enthusiastic reception, we’ll be hearing more about this group.

“It was wonderful. It was a dream,” said RM to ET’s Keltie Knight. “There were like millions of people standing and fans were screaming. We will not forget it.”

Some fans criticized the group for appearing to lip sync, but absent for the most part were the racist tweets that followed the appearance of Psy on the American Music Awards in 2013.

While BTS came away with the buzz, Mars took home the trophies.

HAILEE STEINFELD

Last night, the Hawaii-born Filipino American artist made up for a 6-year dry spell on the AMAs by winning seven awards, including entertainer of the year. Mars also won video of the year and favorite male artist, pop/rock, favorite soul/R&B album and favorite pop/rock album.
Mars wasn’t able to accept the award in person because he is in the middle of his 24K tour. He did appear in a video – that was shot as he was traveling in a van – to thank his fans.

Another Asian American artist who made an impression was Filipino American Hailee Steinfeld, who joined Alesso and Georgia Line, to sing Let Me Go.
